The blog is back

This blog went dark in the summer of 2025, when its old domain lapsed.  Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, we’re back in business! 🐦‍🔥  Everything that was there is still here, at a new address: integrationism.blog.

I’m posting again while I finish On the Destiny of Species: How Evolution Evolves—the book this blog was started for over five years ago, back in June 2021, when I arrived in the Galápagos to retrace Darwin’s footsteps and do research for the book, and ended up moving here on a side quest to open the islands’ first bookstore.

Over the coming months, I’ll be publishing new posts each week as well as material from my personal archive daily:

  • A new series on the book’s central idea—that evolution has two directions, not none, distinct but interrelated, and that from their dynamic interaction definite patterns and predictable trends in evolutionary progress emerge—and where the same patterns turn up outside biology: in writing, in minds, in polities and markets, and more. 🌀
  • The rest of the June 2021 Galápagos travel diary, picking up where the first two posts left off. 🧳
  • The daily gratitude practice, which continued in my Apocaholics Anonymous group on the Insight Timer app while the blog was idle. 🙏🏽
  • Book reviews from the shelf, originally posted on LibraryThing, GoodReads, or Amazon—a lot of them, starting with On the Origin of Species. 📚
  • A lot of other ideas and thoughts from my notebooks or published on various other platforms, gathered together here in one place (each with a provenance line) under the dates they were originally written.

If you’d like posts by email, you can sign up with the subscribe box at the bottom of every page.  Thanks for reading!
